Piano Practice Tips

Piano Practice Tips

  1. A common mistake that children make is not actually finding time to practice.
    • Our goal is to make it fun for our students to play which will help to encourage them to practice on a regular basis. We do this by utilizing our own curriculum which is tailored to truly benefiting children of all ages.
  2. Place the piano in a high traffic area of your home.
    • This will serve as a constant reminder for you and your children to practice. It will also help to sit down for a few minutes at a time to practice. Kids can practice while waiting for meals to be made or between commercials while watching television.
  3. Play each song the entire way through.
    • Often students do exceptionally well at the beginning of each song then struggle near the end. This is because often when practicing, students get interrupted or desire to change the song before finishing the one they are playing.
    • By encouraging your children to finish each song before stopping, it will benefit them from a performance stand point.
  4. Try to not look at your hands when performing
    • This will help you to improve and look at the sheet music instead. Short term this is difficult but long term this will pay dividends.
