5 Ways to Increase Piano Practice in the Summer
Often, summertime is one where children tend to have the most free time and the least motivation to sit down and practice the Piano. Below we have provided 5 tips to help parents encourage their children to increase piano practice into the summer months.
- As you are on a road trip whether this is to go on vacation or to see family, there is no excuse to miss time practicing. There are many apps now that allow our students to practice on an iPad to not miss any time tickling the ivories while on a trip.
- Any time you are shopping is an opportunity to potentially get your child candy or some form of a treat. With a reward system, you could encourage your child to practice to receive the candy.
- Sit down and work with your child at the piano. This can be the best way for you to both encourage them while also ensuring that they are continuing to practice.
- My mom always would say, “When can I record you playing?” This was an encouragement to learn the music because she would always post whatever I had complete at the time on Facebook. This was a helpful nudge to compose myself and learn what I was assigned.
- Help connect your children at church or with other friends that play the piano. If you get them involved in music at any level with piers this will result in a continuing education of the piano.
